(Rimljanom 4,20)<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>V Prvi Mojzesovi knjigi 17,16 je Bog spregovoril Abrahamu in mu obljubil naslednika. Toda obstajala je te\u017eava, saj sta bila Abraham in njegova \u017eena Sara oba stara \u2013 res stara. On je bil star sto let, ona pa devetdeset, tako so bila njuna rodna leta \u017ee dale\u010d za njima! Vendar je Abraham vedel, da mu je Bog spregovoril; sklenil je, da se ne bo osredoto\u010dal na to, da je zanj in za Saro nemogo\u010de imeti otroka po naravni poti. Namesto tega je posadil svojo vero v Bo\u017ejo obljubo; trdno se je oklepal te obljube s slavljenjem Boga, kot beremo v dana\u0161nji vrstici.<\/p>\n<p>Naj ponovim, jasno je bilo, da Abraham ni imel prav nobenega razloga za upanje. \u010ce je bil kdaj katerikoli polo\u017eaj brezupen, je bila v resnici to mo\u017enost, da bi \u010dloveka, ki sta \u017ee prekora\u010dila devetdeset let, dobila svojega biolo\u0161kega otroka. Pa vendar je Abraham kljub temu \u0161e kar naprej upal; \u0161e kar naprej je verjel Bo\u017eji obljubi. Ozrl se je na svoje okoli\u0161\u010dine in se dobro zavedal dejstev, ki so se nakopi\u010dila proti njemu. Vendar ni obupal, \u010deprav Sveto pismo pravi, da je njegovo telo \u00bb\u017ee zamrlo, omrtvelo\u00ab in da je bila Sarina maternica jalova in \u00bbomrtvela\u00ab. Kljub resni\u010dni naravni nemo\u017enosti Abraham ni zapadel v nevero, ni omahoval v veri, ni se spra\u0161eval o Bo\u017eji obljubi.
