“Please listen to this prayer.” –Psalm 54: 2 JCB
We all want our prayers to be effective. You also want to speak to God in a way that brings God’s thoughts and plans to your life and the lives of others. The Bible says, “The prayer of the righteous is powerful and surprisingly effective” (James 5:16 JCB). If you want to make an effective prayer that will bring greater benefits, you need to know what makes that prayer ineffective. Not all of our prayers are successful. For example, if you have so much that you really want to pray that you cannot pray according to God’s wishes, that prayer will not be effective. Or you may be angry or hurt and pray based on your feelings rather than on God’s Word or thoughts. Such prayers have no effect.
Through the Bible, God teaches us what to do to pray effectively. Effective prayer does not follow a set form or a particular principle. To pray effectively, you need to be simple, honest, and full of faith, based on the Word of God. It has nothing to do with rules or guidelines. You should pray from the bottom of your heart with the right attitude.
